Denon’s new A/V receiver, the AVR-4311CI, is now available and has been chosen as a finalist in the 2010 CEDIA Manufacturers’ Excellence Awards.
The 9.2-channel Network receiver includes a variety of advanced features. It has the Audessey MultEQ 32 Room Correction, which has 32 times the resolution quality than that of the current MultEQ XT system. Vincent Audio has a new HDCD (High Definition Compatible Digital) CD player that offers high-performance CD processing. The CD-S8 model has a fully isolated vacuum tube analog output stage with the option of professional-grade XLR balanced analog connections, state-of-the-art digital processing, and premium DC transport.
The CD-S8 has a Philips VAM1250 CD transport in its digital section, which features low playback noise, great optical reading performance, and a long life expectancy. It also includes a 24-bit digital-to-analog (DAC) converter.

A recent Los Angeles Times article reports fears within the broadcast entertainment industry about Google’s plan to join the Internet with traditional television. It will be known as Google TV, and it will allow viewers to watch TV shows and movies, independent of broadcast networks or cable channels. The setup would require a TV or set-top box with Google software (scheduled for stores this fall), a connection to the Internet, and a keyboard. iPhone or Android phones will also be able to operate Google TV.

The sad fact of the matter is that most readers of Home Entertainment will take one look at the prices of MartinLogan’s new Motion Series loudspeakers and never even consider auditioning them. That’s a curious thing to say, perhaps, in a publication that has reviewed and enthusiastically endorsed speaker systems with stickers comparable to a Porsche 911 Carrera 4, but without the installment plans or leasing options.
