This one goes to 70(000)

JVC has announced a pair of new projectors, both with a contrast ratio of 70,000:1 without the use of an iris.

The DLA-HD990/DLA-RS35 are basically the same, other than their distribution channels and brightwork.

All the info after the jump (plus info on the other new projectors)…

Also available are new, slightly tweaked, versions of the projectors that have been available since last year. The RS25/HD950 have a contrast ratio of 50,000:1 while the lower priced RS15 has a contrast ratio of 32,000:1 and the HD550 of 30,000:1.

New to all the models is JVC’s 120Hz Clear Motion Drive, which as the name suggests means the projectors are running at 120 Hz, to decrease motion blur. Presumably, this means there will be motion interpolation to increase the effectiveness. Thankfully, with film sources, the DLA-HD990/DLA-RS35 projectors will run at 96Hz to eliminate the 3:2 sequence.

The DLA-HD990/DLA-RS35 are both THX Certified (as well as the RS25/HD950). All the models have the HQV Reon-VX chip for the processing.

The DLA-HD990/DLA-RS35 are identical other than their silver/gold highlights, and their availability. The 990 is available to consumers directly, while the RS35 is available through custom channels.

Both are available later this month.

PRICE:
DLA-RS35/DLA-HD990: $10,000.00
DLA-RS25/DLA-HD950: $8,000.00
DLA-RS15: $5,500.00
DLA-HD550: $5,000.00
