No More Visual Slip Thanks to Pixels That Grip.
Racing fans can celebrate the arrival of LG’s newest HD line, the LH55.
Equipped with 240Hz technology, LG promises reduced motion blur resulting in a clearer view of things that go zoom.
But that’s not all they boast.
Find out more after the jump.
Looking to eliminate the motion blur long associated with fast-moving sport images and video games, LG has developed scanning backlit 240 Hz technology that they say creates a smoother HD picture on their latest line of 1080p LCDs.
They call it “Tru Motion”, and LG claims (complete with cute little racecar demo on their website) that the LH55 will give consumers the clarity of detail they expect from a still shot even with the zippiest action sequences.
And with a claimed dynamic contrast ratio of 80,000:1, astute viewers are bound to be interested.
Here's how it works: the panel itself is 120 Hz, while the back scans (hence the name) creating an effective rate of 240 Hz.
The ISFccc 10 point white balance and color management system, has both “Day” and “Night” settings that can be automatically triggered by LG’s “Intelligent Sensor.”
This feature senses the room’s ambient light and adjusts the color and brightness accordingly. Handy for those afraid to fiddle with their calibration and have spent a bright Sunday afternoon shrouded in darkness to better see the screen.
LH55 also offers a picture wizard for self calibration in a pinch and what they call “AV Mode II” that has picture and sound settings specialized for cinema, sports, and games that they say were developed using ISFccc parameters. Nifty, though we still recommend relying on the skills of a pro.
Also exciting is the fact that the LH55 has been Energy Star 3.0 certified, and has a mechanical on/off switch to eliminate standby mode and unnecessary power drains, which is something worthy of accolade.
Available in four sizes ranging from the coupe-sized 37” to the SUV-large 55”, the LH55 is ready to take you on a home theater joyride.
