Panasonic has announced a new plasma size in the 85-inch TH-85PF12U.

To be sold though their Premiere Plasma Series, the TH-85PF12U is second only to the Panasonic’s own 103-inch plasma in terms of flat panel size, and a step up from thei 65-inch models.

All the info after the jump...

The TH-85PF12U is based on Panasonic’s new Neo-PDP plasma glass, found in all their latest plasmas. The contrast ratio is a claimed 40,000:1, or 2,000,000:1 dynamic.

Though the screen is 74.4 inches wide by 41.8 inches tall, the entire display is only 3.9 inches deep.

For industrial applications, the TH-85PF12U can also be mounted vertically, for life-size display of people up to 6.2-feet tall.

The TH-85PF12U will be available in October.
