3Di
Sony has released a new standalone Blu-ray player, the BDP-S470.
Just another new Blu-ray player? Not quite. This one will output 3D. Sort of.
All the info after the jump.
All the usual features are here: 1080p/24, BD-Live, and Sony's BRAVIA Internet Video (which includes NetFlix, Amazon on Demand, and more). New is the ability to use an iPhone or touch as a remote control, complete with cover art and production information on the iPhone/touch screen. The app is called "BD Remote" and is available on Apple's App Store.
It even plays SACDs.
There will be a firmware update available this summer that allows the BDP-S470 to output 3D content, for playback of the 3D discs you don't have on the 3D TV you don't have. Consider this a first, and necessary, step for 3D in your home.
The BDP-S470 joins the ranks with the BDP-S570 ($250) which shares the 3D-ready ability, but adds built-in wi-fi (an add-on for the 470) and 1 GB of internal storage.
PRICE:
BDP-S470: $200
