Universal Electronics Nevo remote control line expands with two new, lower priced models that may give the gold standard for affordable universal remotes - Logitech's Harmony - a run for the money.
The new Nevo C3 is an IR/RF remote that incorporates a 2.2-inch touch screen color display and 41 programmable hard keys. Universal Electronics says the C3 can control up to 18 devices and is IR learning capable. It comes with a rechargeable battery plus a charging cradle, although it can also operate using standard AA batteries.
To take advantage of the RF capabilities, you have to add the Nevo REX-433 RF Extender, which is sold separately. Basic device control and RF setup is done using the C3's touch screen, but advanced feature setup such as Activities and Favorite Channels (with logos) is done using a web-based programming suite.
The Nevo C2 remote is IR-only and features a 2.2-inch color display with 12 hard-key navigation buttons. The C2 does not include rechargeable batteries or a cradle but programs (both on-device and online) and operates in much the same way the C3 does.
