Da-lite Delights in Being Green

When considering the environmental impact of various home theater products, projection screens probably aren’t the first category that we feel the need to discuss. Perhaps that’s because we tend to focus, first and foremost, on issues related to power consumption.

While energy efficiency is a hot topic, it’s not the only environmental issue that companies need to address. Recycling, the use of toxic chemicals, and air-quality issues are a few that come to mind.

Projection screen manufacturer Da-lite recently made green news. The company announced the launch of its Screen Green Exchange Program, in which it will recycle your existing projection screen when you replace it with a Da-lite model.

Da-lite supplies the necessary shipping materials to return the old screen but unfortunately does not pay the shipping costs.

GREENGUARD

In other news, all of Da-lite’s vinyl projection screen fabrics have received GREENGUARD certification, which signifies that their chemical and particle emissions meet acceptable Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) pollutant guidelines and standards.

The GREENGUARD Environmental Institute is an industry-independent, non-profit organization that establishes acceptable air standards for indoor products, environments, and buildings.
