A few years back, we at Home Entertainment toyed around with the idea of running a comic strip, either in the magazine or in our sister publication, Digital TV & Sound. And given that it was my childhood dream to be a cartoonist (a race-car-driving astronaut cartoonist, if you want to get technical about it), I volunteered to give it a whirl.
After a couple of years (and, if memory serves, at least one administration change at DTV&S), the idea quietly fell by the wayside. We just couldn't make it work stylistically, or couldn't find the room, or everyone else thought it stunk and didn't have the heart to tell me (a distinct possibility!).
But I saved that first draft for a rainy day, and since it's surely raining somewhere, here it is: the Home Entertainment comic strip that almost was, complete with a couple of different potential captions.
