JVC's 2009 Press Conference at CES previewed a number of interesting new HDTV designs, including a super-thin LCD prototype that measures a super-skinny 7mm (.28 inch) cabinet depth. While no price or availability was announced, the prototype looked great on perched on a sculptured two-leg chromed pedestal. In other JVC LCD HDTV news, the company showed off a 42" model specifically targeted towards graphics professionals and digital SLR camera owners, featuring multiple color gamut choices, including Adobe RGB as well as sRGB and Rec 709 HDTV, among others.

The LT-42WX70 also features individual factory calibration for each set that includes 2.2 gamma and correct white balance/gray scale tweaking. High definition D-SLR images displayed on the set looked absolutely stunning, with believable skin tones and no trace of the usual over-saturated color emphasis. No price yet announced for the set, which should be available late spring.

At last year's CES, JVC introduced their nifty TeleDock line of LCD HDTVs, featuring a front panel flip-down door that features an integrated iPod dock. At this year’s show, the TeleDock line has been expanded with additional new models covering picture sizes from 32" to 46", two of which (top-line 42" and 46" models) feature 120 Hz screen refresh (JVC calls theirs Clear Motion Drive). JVC hasn’t yet hopped onto the 240 Hz bandwagon, but that could change during second half ’09 (or not…).

JVC's prototype super thin LCD HDTV is only 7mm (.28
