Stream Me Up, LG
LG Electronics announced today at CEDIA that its BD300 Network Blu-ray Disc Player will be available at retail at the beginning of October, making it the first Blu-ray/upconverting DVD player to offer instant streaming of movies and TV from Netflix’s online service.
The $399.95 player gives Netflix subscribers streaming access to 12,000 movies and TV episodes in nigh-DVD quality, depending upon your internet connection speed. In addition to the expected 1080p playback and DVD upconversion, the BD300 also adds photo, music, and video playback via USB. What’s more, owners can add external memory to the player via the USB port, enabling full Profile 2.0, or BD-Live, functionality out of the box. As for sound, the BD300 boasts internal Dolby Digital Plus and TrueHD processing and bitstream passthrough, as well as bitstream output for DTS-HD Master Audio.
