Paradigm RVC-12SQ

Only Good Vibrations

Paradigm is showing its latest in-wall subwoofer at CES—a slick vibration-canceling beast that rattles fillings without rattling the walls (much, at least).

The RVC-12SQ works by firing two powerful 14” x 4” mineral-filled co-polymer polypropylene woofers at each other, in phase, to cancel much of the vibration at the wall itself. The unit’s high-pressure die-cast chassis also provides exceptional bracing.

Optimal power for the RVC-12SQ is provided by Paradigm’s X-300 and X-850 Subwoofer Amplifiers, and for best performance Paradigm suggests using its PBK-1 Perfect Bass Kit room correction system.

Ever the skeptic, I placed my hands directly on the wall just above the RVC-12SQ in Paradigm’s booth at the Venetian and barely felt a hint of a tremor as the subwoofer kicked out some surprisingly hefty bottom end.

I also had a chance to hear the sub in its native element, in a super-secret home theater later that night, where it had no problem filling the room with deep, rich bass. And nary a picture fell off the wall. Bonus points.
