(not so) old school

From our everything-old-isnew-again file, comes a lineup of retro looking televisions that fuse modern electronics with old-school cool.

Based on the look and feel of the venerated Philco original from the 1950s, the new Predicta lineup is made by a Wisconsin company called Telstar Electronics.

There are currently eight distinctive models, such as the Danish Moden (below), Meteor (below middle) and Princess (bottom), each bearing features such as hand-crafted wood cabinets and brass accents and mounting arms.

Not distinctive enough for you? Customize the front and rear picture tube enclosures with one of six fashionable ’50s colors.

Like all of the other internal and external components, the 18- or 24-inch color picture tubes may look retro, but they’re totally modern, meaning the new Predictas operate like any conventional contemporary television.

But you’d never guess that by looking at them.
