Functional Sculpture
As an engineer’s son in Puerto Rico, designer Reynold Rodriguez was intrigued by
the construction of his toys.
“As a kid I was always taking them apart and making my
own,” he says.
That curiosity eventually led the grown lad to design the TV3 entertainment cabinet.
“For me, it’s a fusion between the graphic and the sculptural—the mixing of certain elements to create a presence in the room,” says Rodriguez.
In addition to furniture, Rodriguez has also designed a martini glass for Bombay, a super-hip lifeguard station, and a breathtaking sculptural reception desk for the Puerto Rico Contemporary Art Museum.
The TV3 (shown at bottom) reflects similar sensibilities.
Incorporating creative touches such as the integration of a subwoofer into the cabinet door, the TV3 is all about fine art.
“When it’s open, it’s another sculptural element that comes into play,” Rodriguez says of the concentric-shaped door.
Shown here in teak veneer, the 20-inch deep and high TV3 starts at 96 inches long and can be customized.
It is available in any color lacquer, as well as zebra wood or Indian ebony veneers.
Also available are the TV1 (above right) which is also made of wood and has a teak veneer.
The TV2 (left) is made of composites and has a polyurethane finish.
The TV4 (below) is made of wood and has a metallic veneer.
PRICE: $6,880 to $7,550 (TV3)
