The Best Gets Better
Niveus Media unveiled its 2009 line of media servers today at CEDIA, including a sexy new redesign of the company’s flagship Denali Limited Edition.

In addition to a sleek new sculpted façade, the 2009 Denali boasts HDMI 1.3 connectivity (hence, support for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio), two terabytes of storage, a 32 gigabyte solid state hard drive for speedy operating system performance, a slot-loaded Blu-ray player, Nvidia GeForce Series 9 video processing, and eight-channel analog and digital audio output.
Not everything has changed, though. Denali Limited Edition still features the same ultra-quiet, fan-free cooling system for which the company is famous. Yes, those striking art deco fins on the side of the case do serve a purpose.
The new Denali Limited Edition should start shipping October 1, for a cool $13,500.
Speaking of cool—not to mention green—Niveus has teamed up with ADI to deliver its newest media server, the ultra-slim, energy efficient Vail Edition. Vail is built on mobile technology, meaning it’s basically a souped-up laptop in a much more demure living-room style form factor. The end result is a high-performance media server that not only has a far smaller footprint in your living room, but also a much smaller carbon footprint.
Unfortunately I was so busy drooling over the new Denali design I forgot to ask how much the Vail Edition will set you back. I'm willing to bet it’ll be worth every penny, though.
