How low can they go?
Sanyo is keeping things very interesting in the entry-level projection market. The company has introduced a new projector that’s priced at a mere $1995. Despite its low price point, this LCD projector doesn’t skimp on features: a 1080p resolution, an auto iris, advanced lens-shifting for easy setup, and a 3Di color management system.

The PLV-1080HD utilizes a 1920 x 1080 3LCD panel and employs a new auto iris that makes adjustments every sixtieth of a second. The iris’ noise output has been reduced, and the projector’s fan is rated at 21 dB in the darkest Cinema mode. Sanyo claims a contrast ratio of 10,000:1 and brightness capability of 1200 ANSI lumens.
The 10-bit color range allows for a possible 1.07 billion colors, and the 3D color management system allows you to adjust color phase and level.
In terms of convenient setup, the projector offers 2x zoom, plus the ability to move the image (as Sanyo describes it) up to three screens vertically and two screens horizontally. Two HDMI 1.3b inputs are available.
The PLV-1080HD is shipping now.
