Sharp goes entry-level.
It’s been awhile since we saw a new DLP projector from Sharp. The last model was 2007’s XV-Z20000, originally priced at $12,000. Given the more competitive nature of the 1080p projection market these days, it comes as no surprise that Sharp has redirected its efforts toward the entry-level arena with the new XV-Z15000, priced at just $3000.
The XV-Z15000 is a single-chip DLP projector that uses a 0.65-inch TI DMD chip and a six-segment, six-speed color wheel. It boasts a 1920 x 1080 resolution, claimed 30,000:1 contrast ratio, and brightness level of 1600 ANSI lumens.
The projector offers an auto iris that you can easily switch on or off directly via the remote, as well as automatic V-Keystone Correction to adjust the image position in response to the projector’s installation angle.
The XV-Z15000 sports two HDMI inputs and an RS-232C port, which is not a given at this price point. It will be available in March.
