A grand entrance.
Sunfire is throwing its hat into the media-server ring with the launch of its new high-end A/V server and storage solutions.
The Theater Grand Media system is a modular one that combines the TGM-100 server with one of three storage solutions, with generous capacity ranging from 1 to 6 terabytes. The system allows you to import both standard-definition DVDs and CDs ripped in uncompressed WAV, MP3, or WMA formats.
The server upconverts DVD content to 1080p, and metadata supplied by Gracenote is displayed via a colorful, high-resolution, animated user interface. Video output options include HDMI, DVI, and component video; on the audio side, you get both optical and coaxial digital outs, plus a set of stereo analog outs. RS-232 and an IR input are provided.
Of course, it wouldn't be CEDIA without a multiroom option. For that, Sunfire will offer the TGM-100C client. You can add up to six clients, for a total of seven independent zones of A/V playback.
The Theater Grand Media system will ship in early December.
