Mastodon is good, but nowhere near as good as YES. Geoff, you'll be getting a cd in the mail! Close to the Edge is a masterwork, I played the whole 18 minutes of it at my wedding! I personally think that a return to 2-channel audio has to do with the fact that a large portion of the music buying population is just plain used to a more limited sonic pallete, which can be good, or bad. Would an old Phil Spector mono wall of sound recording sound as unique as it does in 5.1? No. The art in some music has a lot to do with the way it's presented I think. That's all!

Just Say No... to Yes.
Old fogies... Mastodon is better than any of the bands mentioned.
