Dim the Lights: The Eco-Friendly Way

Light dimmers can increase the ambience in any room.

With the added benefit of being eco-friendly, Lutron Electronics eco-minders, Maestro and Meadowlark, not only dim light, but can also dim your energy bills.

These energy saving dimmers, Maestro and Meadowlark eco-minders, from Lutron Electronics, claim to save up to 15 percent energy, $30 annually depending on how much you pay for electricity, according to the company.

The Maestro eco-minder is customizable with a delayed, fade-to-off function. The user can leave any room and have the lights fade off, or use this feature to get into bed before the lights go out.  In addition, a power failure memory will store settings up to 10 years.

The Meadowlark offers a slide dimmer with smooth dimming operation. In addition, a rocker switch is available to turn lights to a set level (ideally, not 100% to save power).

Both include LED indicators: Red is normal, green shows energy savings.

Both the Maestro and Meadowlark are available in white, ivory, almond and light almond.  Lutron controls are rated at 120 VAC, 60 hertz.

PRICE:
Maestro: $45.50/each
Meadowlark: $24.80/each
