THIEL DewPoint

Dew Drop Inn

THIEL is taking its high-end speaker technology outdoors with a new surface-mount outdoor speaker called DewPoint.

The speaker is a modified version of the company's PowerPoint 1.2 on-wall speaker with a couple of key differences, the biggest obviously that is constructed for outdoor environments.

All the info after the jump...

THIEL DewPointThe speaker is designed with a combination of coaxial/coplanar drivers and a wedge-shaped enclosure that emits audio in a 90 degree radiation pattern, which THIEL says is wider than most in-walls.

The company also claims that the DewPoint speakers "eliminate the wall-reflection cancellation that mars the sonic performance of virtually every other surface-mounted speaker."

THIEL is claiming a frequency response of 75 Hz to 20 kHz ±3 dB and a sensitivity of 89 dB@2.8 volts at 1 meter.

Though rated for outdoor conditions, the DewPoint is meant for installation under eaves and covered porches, not direct exposure to water.

Even so, the speaker is resistant to weather extremes, constructed of aluminum, along with an anodized aluminum grill and stainless steel mounting hardware that can be painted to match exteriors.

DewPoint outdoor speakers will ship to authorized THIEL dealers this fall. Pricing has not yet been released.

DewPoint: TBD
