Plethora of Plasmas

Panasonic has announced their 2010 lines of plasmas.

From improved black levels, energy efficiency, and 3Di to Twitter and Skype, all the info after the jump.

VT25 Series
At the top of the line is the VT25 series. This is their 3D line, though they stress that thanks to the technologies included to make 3D work, things like motion resolution is actually a little better than the non-3D sets.

There will be a 65, 58, 54 and 50 inch models. All are THX Certified, have 24p playback, and have a claimed (but dubious, like all contrast ratio claims) 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio.

The latest VIERA CAST service, built into all the new plasmas, now includes Twitter, Pandora, and even Skype. The new USB inputs mean you can plug in any keyboard to use Twitter if you tweet. The VT25, G25, and G20 also have the ability to video call via Skype with an optional video cam.

G25 Series
The top of the line non-3D sets have many of the same features as the VT25, including THX Certification, 24p playback, the Infinite Black Pro "5,000,000:1" claimed contrast ratio.

There will be 54, 50, 46 and 42-inch models.

G20 Series
The G20 Series is a tiny step down from the G25, and are almost identical. You still get the Infinite Black Pro, THX Cert, and the main performance features. The G20 series is for a different distribution channel than the G25, hence the similarities.

There will be 54 and 50-inch models.

S2 Series
No THX cert and the contrast ratio drops to a claimed 2,000,000:1 with the S2 series. This is the mainstream part of the 2010 Panasonic plasma line.

The S2 Series has the widest range of sizes, 65, 58, 54, 50, 46 and 42-inch sizes.

U2 Series/C2 Series
At the value end of the new lines is the U2 and C2 Series, the latter of which are 720p models.

Models start becoming available next month, and all sizes/series will be available by Summer.
