The miniaturized driver stage provides the output stage with nuanced, virtually noise-free signal, according to the manufacturer.

Further, full design attention has been given to the issue of heat. In conventional amplifiers, the exposed heatsink fins are passive and they can't help circuits reach their ideal temperature or keep them there throughout a listening session. They run at a temperature wholly defined by their environment and how loud they are playing. This can be far from ideal. Heat management in Classé's new Delta series amplifiers is provided by the ICTunnelTM (pronounced Icy Tunnel), a sensor- and microprocessor-controlled technology inspired by the heatsinks found in high-power laser and medical equipment. Mounted inside the unit, the ICTunnelTM actively regulates the amplifier temperature to ensure both optimum performance and reliability. From room temperature, the amplifiers warm up fast. They reach their ideal temperature in less than fifteen minutes and remain there regardless of how hard they are driven.

Startling Specs:

Frequency response 1 Hz - 100 kHz, -3dB

Output power 600W rms into 8Ω (27.8 dBW)

1200W rms into 4Ω (27.8 dBW)

Harmonic Distortion <0.002% at 1 kHz balanced

<0.004% at 1 kHz single ended

Signal to Noise Ratio -120dB at peak output into 8Ω

To learn more, click here:

MSRP Classé CAM-600 $7,000

http://www.hemagazine.com/node/22364#comments Amplifiers Hot Products News Fri, 07 Jan 2011 09:07:11 -0800 MarkE 22364 at http://www.hemagazine.com Cary Audio Design Unveils New Power Amplifiers http://www.hemagazine.com/node/22346
Cary Audio Design, North Carolina-based manufacturer of high performance AV equipment, is introducing two new power amplifiers. Snobby audio fanatics would never dare travel into the world of the Big Screen, nor would videots ever claim to care about audio in a deep way. But what if there was a middle way? Parasound, manufacturers of high-end audio components, has a new version of the widely acclaimed, John Curl designed, Halo JC 2 stereo preamplifier, the Halo JC 2 BP, which adds a home theater bypass function that allows this preamplifier and its companion power amplifier and speakers to be connected as the front left- and right-channels of a surround sound home theater system. Richard Schram, Parasound's president and founder, claims the new configuration provides total performance and control in both modes without compromising the performance of either mode. "I hugely underestimated how many people would want to blend a JC 2 into their surround system. I put the idea to John Curl, and we eventually came up with a way to implement this without touching the L and R channel audio boards. The result is a perfect sonic duplicate of the original JC 2 with the added benefit of home theater bypass."

The new Parasound Halo JC 2 BP allows audiophiles to use their high-end speakers and amplifiers for the left and right channels of a home theater system controlled by a surround receiver, or to switch back to stereo music under the no compromise control of the JC 2 BP's stereo preamplifier circuits. How? The potentiometer board now has four relays that short out the four-gang main volume control and both two-gang trim pots. Fixed resistors set the outputs to unity gain when the bypass mode is selected. Any one or more of the JC 2 BP's six inputs can be assigned as a bypass input. And it is, entirely hand-crafted in Vicenza. The chassis' undulating curves and exquisitely machined knobs show this is no ordinary high-end amplifier. Listen to your favorite tunes and it becomes clear the Solista MkII was designed to preserve, above all else, the essence of the music.

http://www.hemagazine.com/Viva_Solista_MkII#comments Product Reviews Amplifiers Receivers Thu, 17 Sep 2009 02:53:14 -0700 geoffm 21303 at http://www.hemagazine.com
